Every Artist (Is a Star) translates one of Slawn’s boldest recurring visual ideas into print: an exaggerated cartoon face rendered in intense orange, red and blue, set alongside a glowing star.

The image carries the immediacy that defines much of Slawn’s work. Thick black outlines, distorted features and saturated colour sit somewhere between graffiti, cartooning and contemporary painting, while the deliberately blunt title adds another layer of humour and self-awareness.

The composition originates from Slawn’s 2024 painting of the same title, created in acrylic, ink and spray paint on canvas. In print form, the image retains the raw graphic energy of the original while making the work accessible in a smaller, highly collectible format.

Slawn’s practice frequently moves between fine art and popular culture, and Every Artist (Is a Star) captures that overlap particularly well: instantly readable, deliberately irreverent and unmistakably his.
