GG RECKLESS
Raised in Mitimiti - a remote stretch of west coast in the far north of New Zealand - She grew up surrounded by the raw beauty and creative spirit of Northland. From her early years in Kerikeri and later Auckland, creativity was woven into her everyday life. With her father immersed in carving, artistic expression naturally became part of the household rhythm. Sarah carried that creative energy into a successful career in fashion merchandising for major brands. There, she explored form, texture, colour, and storytelling. 2024 was her breakout year, beginning with a single, unexpected experiment: transforming a boucle chair into a sculptural piece of art. The interest it drew revealed just how strongly her creativity connected with people. Embracing that momentum, she quit her job later that year to pursue her incredible artistic talent. 2025 was another standout year, launching her first solo exhibition ‘Reckless’ in Auckland, which was a sell-out, and 2026 is showing no signs of slowing down.
Sarah's work is fuelled by the world she moves through: the people she surrounds herself with, the stories shared over late-night conversations, the rawness of intimate moments, and the high-energy chaos of her brilliant adventures. Her travels around the globe bring fresh colour palettes, textures, and cultural influences that weave their way into her pieces. Her artworks are unmistakably hers - bold shapes, rich layers of textured paint, marker detailing, and unexpected techniques that build depth and emotion. Every piece carries her signature mix of edge and elegance, groundedness and rebellion. Distinctive, spirited, and full of character, Sarah's art refuses to be passive - it's something you feel as much as you see. Today, she continues to explore and expand her artistic expression, creating pieces that honour the places, people, and moments that have shaped her: grounded, tactile, honest, and beautifully bold.
