FLOG
Flog sees people for who they really are. The French painter exposes the emotions and experiences below the surface, bypassing our exterior selves to capture the true essence of our beings. Flog (born Florian Gaborit) began drawing during childhood, and studied graphic design at Nantes’ École Pivaut. His deft, dazzling blend of aerosol spray, acrylics and oils gained international attention following the 2020 introduction of his signature Human of Glass character, within whose transparent body the colours and complexities of life swirl and splash.
With this iconic series, Flog explores the delicate tension between fragility and strength, shaping a universe where pop culture, childhood memories, and dreamlike narratives converge. Using a distinctive blend, Flog breathes life into his translucent character—each figure a vessel of emotion, memory, and experience. Set against richly imagined backdrops, these figures invite viewers into silent, open-ended stories where interpretation becomes deeply personal. At once subtle, romantic, and at times unsettling, Flog’s work is a poetic reflection on the human condition, rendered with meticulous detail and profound sensitivity. Influenced by graffiti and pop culture, Flog creates dreamlike, romantic, and at times sarcastic works. His art invites viewers to interpret stories without words, focusing instead on the atmosphere and context surrounding his figures. These scenes offer an immersive, almost disturbing narrative, allowing the audience to construct their own emotional connection to the artwork.
