Rare Bon a Tirer Proof - the final sign-off before printing the main edition. Hand-signed and numbered by the artist. A fantastic example of an early Blek Le Rat Screen Print, published by Black Rat Press in 2006. Beautifully float mounted with Acryguard UV acrylic glazing.
With the Sheep, Blek introduced a new dimension into his ideas and images. Instead of representing typically urban figures in his urban environment, as his earlier stencils had done, he brought a sheep from the Limousin countryside to the cities of Paris, London, Florence, Buenos Aires, Leipzig, Prague and even Taipei. Blek wanted to experiment with the contrast of placing the epitome of the rural environment into an urban landscape. Then he wanted to watch this juxtaposition develop. The Sheep was also a nod to the French author Saint-Exupery, who wrote Le Petit Prince, in which the prince asks the narrator "Draw me a sheep!”
