The love felt between a grandfather and his grandchild is constant, everlasting and
eternal. He holds your tiny hand for what seems to be a short time, but you will hold
him in your heart forever. He is a lifeline, a guide, a champion, wise and all-knowing.
He is silly, funny and tells such great stories of places he has travelled, and a life well
lived. And when he is no longer here, he will live on through those stories
forevermore.
This artwork began as a drawing, then deconstructed into 3 separate layers: black,
white and black. Each layer is then put onto a silk screen and printed onto 3 separate
layers of Perspex. I then left it in the hands of my framer to float each layer by
5mm over a black backing board. As simple as this may sound, putting each layer
together to make ‘one’ image is tedious and requires a lot of patience (which I lack)
so a nice challenge. I like to think I put as much time, love and care into this piece as my Grandad gave
to me.
