Chani started her ceramic journey through an evening class working with another potter for two years, this allowed her to take her frustrations out on the clay. She then took a two year hiatus as teaching got in the way, as always, being a teacher is like being in the mafia, it's impossible to leave. She started back up in a Wellington community potters group and it took off from there. Wellington brought out her quirky pieces as she battled with finding her style through trial and zany. Now based in Queenstown, her style is ever changing, mainly based on how bad the traffic is.
